- I'm glad i didn't spend more for a top of the line 28.8 (or 14.4) then an
- "economy" one (as long as it's reliable). When using the WWW (and even ftp
- sites, and even newsgroups), i'm convinced that the actual throughput of your
- 28.8 modem, for example, plays only a minor role in how long it takes to
- download something, because of the all the "pauses" due to the internet itself
- and how busy your ISP's server is, etc. If modem speed was the only factor
- in how long a download takes, i'd get the fastest modem. But i remember
- trying a few modems, and while sitting there with the fastest, i'm seeing the
- RX light not even on part of the time, due to the internet itself.
